IMPORTANT: Your use of this site implies your acceptance in toto of the guidelines set forth in our "legal FAQ" Hi, I'm Mark Harris! Saint Rock is an independent record label based in Milan, Italy. Saint Rock's Italian charter is very comprehensive, including publishing, production, distribution, management and much else besides; for those who understand Italian, I've posted it here. I'm an American expat musician, resident in Europe since the late 1960s. You may like to take a moment to check out my "capsule geomusical bio". I'll be adding plenty more info on Saint Rock and the music scene in general in the READ subheading of this section, including fun stuff like links to my favorite records, so do "click in" from time to time! Among other resources, I'm providing a live Music Business newfeed (Napster, Gnutella and beyond)! Though very busy with my own productions and other studio and live work, I am available for seriously interesting arranging work: contact me directly. After a rewarding lifetime of music-making, including 25 years of hard work and fun as Musical Director, arranger, composer and sideman for generations of top Italian artists (the last two being my dear old friend, the late dean of Italian singer-songwriters, Fabrizio De André and world-class, multi-million-record-selling singer Laura Pausini, a kind hearted and enormously talented young lady), I decided to found a limited company of my own in 1998 with a view to helping some great artists share their precious dreams with the world. After "testing the water" in '98 and '99 with some exciting instrumental CDs by friends of mine - all produced for another label, but available exclusively through this site's "netSHOP" - in the year 2000 I launched my first release with a vocalist, the first Saint Rock production: Sardinian Franca Masu's flamboyant world-jazz gem "El meu viatge". The enthusiastic attention we're getting from Spain (the CD is sung in Catalan, a variant of which is spoken in Franca's native Alghero) is nothing short of astonishing! The excitement is catching on abroad, and I'm sure she'll soon be touring all over the world. Last year I also concentrated on promotion for Saint Rock's second high-budget production, Erika Cecchini's haunting contemporary English-language folk-rock masterpiece "In my bed". Erika has since decided to dedicate herself wholly to her writing (novels, not songs!), but - who knows? - she may yet return to the studio for another awesome album... meanwhile, I warmly invite you to check out her moving debut CD. I'm very proud of the brilliant achievements of these wonderful individuals - dear friends of mine and mature musicians all - as well as my own contributions to the albums, and I'm sure you'll love all six CDs as much as I do! On this site you can read about the artists, listen to them, see photos, watch video clips (join the Club and check out Franca's new 7-minute animated video!), and join their fans as well for lively discussions. The site also offers various exciting resources for musicians and music-lovers, including a vast meeting-place for members and friends of the Mediterranean music scene and an up-coming section with links galore... and new ideas are in the works! So, welcome again, enjoy your stay; I've made lots of good friends since I started Saint Rock and I'm looking forward to meeting YOU on- as well as off-line! Sign our guestbook and visit again soon!
