WELCOME TO COMPINGO! a bit about us: COMPINGO is a 'limited company' with unlimited energy, chartered in summer '98 by two long-time friends already very successful in their chosen fields: Italian businessman and music-lover Carlo Focarelli and American musician (and business-lover?) Mark Harris. Both fortyish, Carlo is an Umbrian of Roman adoption, partner in a thriving global computer-chip spot-buying concern, while Mark, Connecticut Yankee based in Milan, is a well-known session-man, arranger, composer, producer and musical director for top Italian acts, with his own publishing and production company. COMPINGO is the expression of accumulated professional experience, shared personal tastes and freewheeling intuition, designed to be the springboard for our diverse creative ideas in the entertainment arena. The name is pure Latin, being the first person present indicative form of the verb 'compingere', to 'press firmly together', 'closely join', 'bring together tightly', 'form a close-knit whole'....the past participle of which is 'compactus', whence the English word 'compact'. So 'compingo' means 'I make compact', and, indeed, our primary activity is making CDs. But it also means 'I create a tight unit', and we are doing just that, signing up a roster of great artists with whom we share a bond of friendship, admiration and respect. COMPINGO's first project has been to produce and publish four prime examples of what we like to call 'Italian designer music', meaning, quite simply, great music (not necessarily Italian in origin or style) played with that exquisite combination of esthetic sensibility, passionate flair and fine technical craftsmanship for which Italian artists are justly famous throughout the world. We are offering these gems exclusively over the Internet, and, thanks to a unique deal with an international courier, we can rush them to wherever you are faster than it takes some people to get to a record-store, and at a flat rate unthinkable for any but the biggest distributors! COMPINGO is not just a music production/publishing business; our site features articles by our artists and by others on all things musical (and more!) with fresh material added often, plus we have discussion lists so that you can comunicate directly with them (and us)....and this is just the beginning!
