PRESENTING THE NET'S FIRST PRO DEMO-MASTERING SERVICE!! DEAR FELLOW MUSICIAN, We all know how much real professional mixing and mastering costs (in case you don't, we're talking thousands of dollars here)! If you do happen to have that kind of money, good for you: you can pick and choose. But if you don't, what do you do when the final mix of your new demo CD cut just doesn't, well, cut it! Keep mixing it over and over again? Probably what's missing is a pair of ears appropriate to the serious task at hand. But you're back to "square one" - hiring those ears is just too expensive. Or maybe you're located in a place where you couldn't get local qualified assistance even if you could afford it (and that includes almost everywhere on Earth). If your demo material is great, record company execs may be attracted even if sound quality is, shall we say, tarnished, but if it's actually also SOUNDS great (we are, after all, talking about music), they're a million times more likely to jump up and down drooling and rustling contracts! Up until now there was little you could do on your own short of reading hundreds of articles on the subject and experimenting at your own in the end sometimes unforeseeably great expense. NOW YOU HAVE AN ALLY WITH AN AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE! My name's Mark Harris, and I'm an American producer and music industry "name" in Italy, where I've worked for over a quarter of a century. I've recorded, mixed and mastered with countless studio engineers over the years, and I can choose the best. For a few of my latest productions, I've been fortunate to be able to afford as collaborator master sound engineer MARCO PRIORI. A good engineer is hard to find. A great one nearly impossible. This guy is awesomely talented, as well as being a tireless worker and conscientious to a fault! He's one of those passionately dedicated engineers that would rather buy a new Manley this and an old AMS that than a new car (and I know others like him), while at the same time knowing exactly what to do with them and having the savvy and curiosity to invent impressive new techniques with them all the time (now that's much rarer). Apart from the superb job he's done with my artists (you DO have all my CDs, don't you? ;-), Marco's turned in hundreds of perfect recordings and mixes for world-class Italian heavy-weights like Antonello Venditti and Ivana Spagna as well as major tv jingles and live recording. He's also had first-hand experience producing, so he knows what it takes to tweak your mix to the max! I told him my idea, he liked it immediately and after a brutal argument and a month of convalescence together in the same ward (just kidding, but it wasn't easy), I talked him down to $160 per standard-length piece to launch the innovative service! People spend more just to get a snare-drum sound in the studio! Take advantage of this offer NOW before he changes his mind!! The idea is the following:
You're master is on its way, again as an email attachment (or CD if so requested) to the address you've specified, along with comments on your project and personal recommendations by Marco The idea for providing this service came to me upon hearing what Marco did with a stereo live recording I casually asked him to tidy up (Franca Masu in Spain). He actually split up the two stereo tracks into seperate equalization zones and did God knows what else, anyway the tweaked version sounds like a different concert. Hey, I have all the same plug-ins and know what they do, but I couldn't get the same results even spending 10 times the man-hours. By the way, while there's no reason why you shouldn't send him a live track to work his magic on, I do strongly suggest bearing in mind that the mix you supply should be the best you can possibly do. Marco can make what's good sound a zillion times better, but not what's awful great... then again, maybe he can do that too, the cat's amazing!!!!!! Another observation: while we consider this a DEMO-mastering service and we really can't honestly recommend a service of this kind for commercial industry-standard mixes, there's nothing to prevent you trying out Marco's touch on a commercial mix; you may well prefer the results to what you've got - in which case, just acknowledge his work on your release and good luck! Need your piece(s) transcibed? Check out our transcription service, another first on the Net. Use both services for the same piece and save! A final note: imitators will inevitably spring up soon all over the net, and we sincerely hope you'll find a better and cheaper service so you can tell us about it and we can use it, too. Not very likely, though... meanwhile, keep 'em comin'!! |
