FRANCA MASU first appeared on the Sardinian music scene three years ago. Her musical proposal – the expression of balance between Catalan tradition and modern music – has now come into full-colored bloom. A cultured music which brings together different Mediterranean cultures, united by the sweet Catalan tones of L’Alguer. From this maritime microcosm FRANCA MASU takes smoothly to flight like a seagull, crossing the sea which in its time was the domain of the Greeks, Phoenicians and Romans. These are songs of the sea and the coast, of life and death and love from texts by Catalan and Alguerese poets performed in a clear voice full of strong emotional impact. This exhilarating voice is accompanied by a highly sensitive and professional group of musicians such as Ubach, Cristiani and the sensational Mark Harris (piano), who is responsible for all the musical arrangements on this journey beyond space and frontiers.
