FRANCA MASU SPREADS HER MUSICAL ENCHANTMENT COMING FROM ALGHERO

Franca Masu and her music performed in Algherese Catalan were the revelation of a day that included the presence of Mayte Martin
Karles Torra

The Algherese singer Franca Masu set a new artistic bench mark last Saturday in continental Catalonia. She was the great revelation of a sultry evening whiled away among agreeable Mediterranean sounds and flavors...
Franca Masu has a strong power of enchantment, the ability to bewitch. With her delicious timbre, refreshing sea foam-flecked vocal inflections and highly suggestive Algherese accent, she left us agape in many moments of her eccellent show.
Her songs are imbued with the spirit of a seafaring people, which the singer renders in an expressive, modern musical language, her jazz leanings lending a special luster.
Franca Masu is much more than an "accomplished" vocalist, combining sophistication and earthquake intensity in her wonderful performances, as beautiful chiselled as her exquisite Mediterranean countenance.
Beyond the shadow of doubt, we are witnesses to the discovery of the year on the Catalan scene. One hopes that the event doesn't fade into a mere exotic memory and that, in the future, we'll have the pleasure of very frequent visits from this "Gran Dame of Mediterranean Song"...
